On offer is a fine antique hand painted framed portrait miniature. Housed in a hallmarked solid silver frame, assayed in London 1914, the picture is pencil and watercolour on paper/card. Beautifully executed, the child has blonde hair, red rosy cheeks and blue eyes. The artist has signed the picture to the right hand side but I can't quite make it out; possibly Speight? The solid silver frame has a suspension loop to the top and at one point would have had a gilded / gold finish, some of which remains. A nice example. Prices are negotiable to a point and I can normally combine postage for multiple purchases.

On offer is an antique framed portrait miniature. It features a long haired girl, wearing a blue dress with white collar and a blue and white hat. It is housed in a black rectangular frame, which is glazed to the front with convex glass and an acrorn hanger / suspension loop to the top. It looks like there originally would have been a strut support to the rear.

Portrait Minature Of A Long Haired Girl In Blue Dress, £275.00 |
On offer is an antique framed portrait miniature. Housed in a 9ct gold and seed pearl double sided frame / pendant, it features a young child to one side and a hair panel back to the other. Both sides are glazed , with the front glass having a couple of small chips. It is surrounded by seed pearls, with two missing - hopefully it should be relatively easy to find replacements if necessary. The gold is clearly stamp "9CT" for solid 9ct gold and there is a suspension loop to the top. The pendant is then housed in a sweet leather travel frame with a strut support to the reverse wit hthe name Keturah Collings in gold. Presumably this is the artist, as Keturah Anne Collings was a British painter and photographer, born in 1862.

It features a solider with a rather fine and large moustache. According to the partial label to the reverse, it is the brother of the person writing wearing his military undress unifrom for the Grenadiers. Painted in fine detail and in good antique condition.

Pair of portrait miniatures of father and son, £300.00 |
On offer is a highly unusual late Victorian hand painted portrait miniature of a young child. This is a rare example of a miniature as I believe it is a "deathbed" example. I appreciate that this may not be to everyone's taste and might seem macabre and distasteful to modern day eyes. But the parents, who likely had no photographic image to remember their child, would have had this painted as a lasting remembrance. Such portraits (painted both pre and post mortem) were considered tender mementos in the nineteenth century; and, in an age before photography.
It features a child in a laid back pose surrounded by white heavenly motifs. The eyes are open but look a little sunken to me. It is signed A May 97 to the lower right, and has a good quality gilt metal border. The internal frame has been later framed, as evidenced by the framers label to the reverse. An unusual and rare example. A larger size, as shown in the last photo in comparison to a Regency oval portrait of a man. Prices are negotiable to a point and I can normally reduce prices for combined postage.

On offer are two portrait miniatures that I believe to be mother and daughter (purchased together and described as such). Both are housed in oval frames; the young girl is facing slightly to the side, has wavy blonde hair and a white dress with blue bows. Inscribed in two places, I presume one being the sitter and the other the artist. There is a suspension bow to the top with a blue ribbon.
The second portrait is of a young woman with wavy auburn pair, with a parting to one side. She is wearing a blue and white dress and again is facing slightly to the side, and the frame has a suspension loop to the top.

The blonde haired boy is facing slightly to the side and is wearing a white shirt, in front of a blue background. The reverse card backing to the picture has a pencil inscription which appears to read Walter Partington Sept - 1 - 98.

On offer is a hand painted antique portrait miniature of a young child dating to c.1900. The oval portrait features a curly haired child in a white top / or dress turning to the right. The black frame has a gilded oval mount to the aperture which has convex glass and an Acorn mount with small suspension loop to the top. No signature that I can see to the portrait. It has not been taken out of the frame as I would have to remove the frame backing to do that.

On offer is an antique hand painted portrait miniature dating to c1910. It is of a young girl with long blonde hair with a blue bow and wearing a white dress. It is housed in a gold coloured oval frame with a suspension loop to the top. There appears to be a signature to the lower right side, which I unfortunately can't make out. There is no glass to the front, a small loss to the panel on the far left side and a little wear to the painted surface as shown.

An early 20th century hand painted portrait of a young smiling girl. Facing slightly to the side with her blonde hair with blue bows and a blue and white dress. It is housed in a rose gold coloured oval frame with a suspension loop to the top. No signature that I can see, and offered in good condition.

On offer is a good sized portrait miniature of a boy, dating to 1897. Of a good size and complete with the original fitted travel case / stand as shown. Signed by what appears to be M Carlill and dated 1897. The inscription to the reverse tells us that this is Leslie Harrington Fry, son of C.A. Harrington Fry. A little research reveals that Leslie later became a Lieutenant in the British Army in WWI and was unfortunately killed on 9th August 1918 whilst working as a signalling officer. There is a little wear to the image as shown and also some wear to the inside lining of the case. Still a good quality painting and an interesting subject.
